4 Year Blog Birthday

I wish I had some fantastic blog birthday giveaway to share. I don't. I truly just wanted to thank everyone who continues to read my blog.

Four years ago I started this blog with no real clue as to where it would lead me. I had hoped to make extra money. That never happened. That's not to say the blog hasn't made me rich in other areas.

I've made some incredible friendships here. I've been incredibly inspired by so many amazing bloggers. I feel like my life has definitely been enriched.

There were times when I wanted to quit the blog. It's time-consuming. I don't always feel inspired to write. I've definitely been slacking with recipes. I don't even always share my workouts any longer. I may be blogging a little less frequently, that's not a bad thing is it, but I cherish the comments I receive.

You guys make me smile with your support, encouragement, and just general conversation. If you had asked me where I would be in four years when I started this blog, I imagine my answer would be quite different than where I have gone.

I've grown tremendously. I've become a runner. I've made so many friends. I finally took risks. I live fuller. I stepped out of comfort zones. I became an ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer. I became an RRCA Certified Running Coach. AND I started my own business, Where's the Beach Fitness, LLC.

Riches come in other packages than shiny coins or paper bills.

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th...

3 B's and Strawberry Tempeh Quesadillas

3 B's: Back, Biceps, Boxing When Jason got up at 5 am to go swim, I thought very fleetingly about getting my cardio done. Then I promptly fell back to sleep. I wasn't overly concerned, sleep is more important sometimes - especially on a Monday. I did my weights at lunch. Today was pull muscles for upper body: back and biceps. I did the following as supersets of 3 sets of 8 reps.  SS#1 Pullovers Alternating biceps curls SS#2 Double-arm rows Cross-body biceps curls SS#3 Single-arm horizontal rows Incline biceps curls Lat pull downs with blue (heaviest) band - 2 X 16 1 set of 21's for biceps This was a pretty good workout. I was feeling stronger today, and should likely have gone heavier for some of the back exercises. I feel like I'm never able to get the back gains I'd like though. I do not have a pull up bar. We tried to buy one - the kind that fits every door. Apparently as long as the house was not built in 1890. The bar would not fit in any of...
