Fun For Friday - Public Restroom Quirks

This might seem to be one of those randomly out of nowhere posts. I suppose it is. But, it is Fun For Friday so that's a-ok right?

Yesterday, while in the restroom at work, I started thinking of some of the odd quirks I have about public restrooms. Yes, I'm sure you're thinking I'm certifiable right now. But, I know some friends who even refuse to use them period.

I've noticed I have a certain pattern and that there is definitely a restroom etiquette that some people don't seem to understand. I guess they never got the memo. Now, if you're one of these people I list below, I promise I still love you!
 Public Restroom Quirks
  • I always try to go to the same stall (at work).
  • I'm pretty giddy when I can get to the restroom when a lid is still up because it means it's clean and no one else has used that toilet yet.
  • I will admit that sometimes I'm too lazy to hover. Gross, I know.
  • I get really annoyed when someone tries to talk to me when I'm in the restroom. Let me pee quietly please and thank you. Friends are the only exception to this rule.
  • And do you really need to have a phone conversation while sitting on the pot? Do you really think the person on the other end of the phone wants to hear you or anyone else peeing? I'm thinking no.
  • I realize that some people just like to be neat and tidy, but when someone starts to wipe down the water off the entire counter top, I feel like it's a statement against me somehow.
  • And while I get annoyed at people wiping down the sinks, I really get annoyed about people being so lazy as to not pick up their paper towels if they don't make the waste basket. I feel like that's just rude to the cleaning people.
  • I don't understand how and why some people don't flush the toilet and I won't use the toilet if it's dirty which is funny because I'll use a port-a-potty (though that's usually out of desperation).
  • If it's...um...stinky...please don't spray a shitton of fake florally spray to try to mask the stink. It just makes for a more disgusting fake flowered...um...stink.
Ok, your turn. Any restroom quirks? Do you talk on the phone on the pot?

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th

Vacation Day 2 - Running, Reading, Relaxing

Running This morning I woke up a bit before 7 am. Of course, we had gone to sleep by 9....on vacation no less. I had thought I might try for an outdoor run, but the temps were already a humid 83 degrees by 8 am. So, I took my run to the treadmill. I had the Food Network to keep me occupied for a pretty decent 5 mile run. Running and watching tv isn't so bad ;-) I did 3 miles, then 4 1:00 athletic intervals then finished up another mile to round it out to and even 5. After stretching and rolling (yep, brought my TriggerPoint kit ), we packed up the cooler with lunch and headed down to the beach. Not a bad way to start the day if you ask me. Beach Time & Stair Cardio We set up our little umbrella camp and proceeded to just relax. I was excited to start one of the books I brought along with me: Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon . I've read her memoir, Lucky , and her first work of fiction, The Lovely Bones . . We were out for a few hours before taking a break.
